Financial Assistance is Now Available to Help with Rental and Mortgage Payments Due to COVID-19
SALISBURY, MD – June 17, 2020- The recent pandemic has caused hardships for many families when it comes to meeting their rent and mortgage obligations. To help our community get back on its feet, Salisbury Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc. (SNHS) will be facilitating the COVID-19 CDBG Rental and Mortgage Assistance Program.
The partnership between the city of Salisbury and SNHS is designed to provide financial assistance to renters and homeowners in the city limits of Salisbury who have been impacted by the recent pandemic. Assistance will be provided for no more than 3 months of rent or mortgage payments per household. Maximum award amount available is $3,000.00 per household.
SNHS Director, Cheryl Meadows is “hopeful that this assistance will give families some reprieve in this stressful time and get them back on track with paying their rent or mortgage payments. We want to see people stay in their homes. Optimism is a large part of our mission and the COVID-19 CDBG grant will certainly bring hopefulness and confidence about the future for the recipients.”
Eligibility guidelines must be met in order to apply. These guidelines and applications can be found by visiting www.salisburynhs.org. Open enrollment is available June 15 until midnight on June 30, 2020 or until 100 viable applications have been received. The applications will then be sent to the city for selection through a lottery system and 30 recipients will be notified accordingly.
