SNHS Celebrates NeighborWorks Week
WHEREAS, more than 240 members of the United States Congress cosponsored a Congressional Resolution in 1984 which initiated NeighborWorks® Week; and
WHEREAS, the formal introduction of NeighborWorks® Week in the Spring of 1986 began the National Annual Celebration that is held the first through second Saturdays in June; and
WHEREAS, NeighborWorks® Week is a celebration of neighborhood pride and unity — the efforts of local organizations working with partners and volunteers to create healthier communities — among the nearly 250 organizations in all 50 States, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico; and
WHEREAS, Salisbury Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc. — a 501c(3) non-profit organization and a NeighborWorks® organization since July of 1995 — has for twenty-seven years been upholding its mission by serving targeted neighborhoods and populations in the City of Salisbury as well as in Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset Counties to cultivate sustainable neighborhoods with partnerships and lending which inspire self-reliance, growth, and optimism; and
WHEREAS, Salisbury Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc. will host a beautification event in honor of NeighborWorks®Week on June 11, 2021 from 12:30-2:00 PM at the Newton Street Community Center located at 306 Newton Street, Salisbury, Maryland 21801;
NOW THEREFORE, I, Jacob R. Day, Mayor of the City of Salisbury, do hereby proclaim Saturday through Saturday — June 5th through June 12th 2021 as
“NEIGHBORWORKS® WEEK”
in our City and urge all Citizens to participate in the Newton Street Community Center Beautification
Event hosted by Salisbury Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc. Let’s make Mr. Rogers proud and make it a beautiful day in the neighborhood!
